Earrings and a Yoda [Jan. 11th, 2009|02:57 am]
Today has been super productive.  I started out by making myself a pair of earrings from this pattern.

Then, I knitted up the Yoda hat I wanted to make.

Type your cut contents here.

The earring supplies only cost about 11 dollars, and that's enough supplies to make ~25 pairs of earrings.  Not including the wire though, I will need to buy more wire (only .99)

I used Cascade 220 to make the Yoda hat.  I was told that one skein would make two hats, but I added ear flaps and a under-the-chin tie, so I don't know if I'll get another hat out of the skein or not.  it was only a 7 dollar skein, so no biggie if it's only a one-hat skein.

Here's my ball of yarn before knitting:

It looks like a nice Yoda color.  Then here's the hat after it was all knitted:

And of course, a few shots of me modeling it.

I'm so sad because my ears are droopy :(

I need to felt it down though (it's a baby hat) and then stiffen the ears a bit.  I kind of really want one of these for myself now.  I would look adorable as Yoda.

I did find out that some people are modifying other hats to look like Ewoks.  I may need to consider this option as well...although Yoda rocks hardcore.
